A pair of antique Scottish granite curling stones, with cast-metal gooseneck mounts and turned wooden grips. Their substantial forms and speckled stone surfaces make a distinctive display for a country-house interior or collection of sporting memorabilia.

Estimated to date from circa 1880–1900 and of a type associated with outdoor pond curling. Their individual history and the precise source of the granite are unconfirmed. The stones have been gently cleaned and are offered as decorative display pieces, not as tested sporting equipment.

Condition & Handling

Antique condition with historic wear. Surface staining on the top of one stone. One wooden handle grip is slightly loose; the security and load-bearing capacity of the handles have not been confirmed.

These are very heavy objects. Display on a stable surface capable of supporting their weight.
